Water and dust resistance
What does IP67 mean?
IP67 means the device is dust tight (6) and withstands immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes (7). It survives a fall into water or a rinse. The test is done with fresh water at rest.
What you can do
If it falls into a puddle, the toilet or the pool, you take it out and it keeps working. You can rinse it with fresh water and use it in the rain without a second thought.
What is still not covered
Regular swimming, salt water, hot water and steam. The certified immersion is static: arm strokes or jumping in create more pressure than the test does. For swimming, watches use the 5 ATM rating.
After it gets wet
Dry it with a cloth before charging. Water on the contacts or in the charging port can cause corrosion over time, even if the device came through the immersion without trouble.
If it has rubber flaps or trays, check that they are fully closed before it gets wet: the protection only holds with everything in place.
What to check before you buy
- A good choice if the device will be near water.
- To swim with a watch, also check that it lists 5 ATM.

Frequently asked questions
IP68 certifies deeper or longer immersion than IP67, under conditions each manufacturer states. For everyday use the difference is small.
